Meeting Notes -- 2006
June 21, 2006 -- AVMUG General Meeting
The 21 June 2006 general meeting of AVMUG was held at the AV Senior Center, Vice President KEVIN HIRSCHBUEHLER presiding. The new meeting format was started in response to the club improvement plan laid out at the last general meeting.
Mr. Bill Thomas, Executive Director of iKeepInTouch gave a presentation on services his organization could provide to the senior center at no cost. This includes computers, training, and tech advice. The membership was supportive of approaching the center director and presenting the support concept, in an effort to get a senior PC network started.
Kevin Hirschbuehler held an informal Q and A session which was received well. Another session is planned for the July meeting.
Kevin will be purchasing a projector shortly to replace the old one that broke.
Dave Arnold presented a mini program, showing photographs and prints made conventionally and on inkjet printers, which demonstrated the differences between various grades of photo paper.
Members are asked to present short programs on favorite PC related subjects of interest, in an effort to generate greater participation in club activities. Members are also invited to attend board meetings and assist with club functions, due to our critical shortage of available helpers.
With regret, Kevin Hirschbuehler announced the sudden passing of AVMUG Treasurer Ed Groth, who passed away while fulfilling his duties to the club and helping the senior center. Michael Caricofe, Ed's son-in-law, volunteered to fill the role of Treasurer. Bob Lion made a motion to appoint Michael Caricofe interim treasurer. The motion was seconded and passed unanimously.
Marty Graham provided a sympathy card for the members to sign and Bob Lion obtained a memorial plaque, which will be sent to Mrs. Groth along with flowers. Ed was our most active member and he will be greatly missed.
Seventeen dollars was generated by the 50/50 program and several complimentary member door prizes were given away.
Note - President Michael Oke II was out of town on business, and Secretary Deana Jones was home ill. Sixteen people attended the meeting.
